Unpretentious Decor

Architecturally this villa is a plain structure with a flat roof void of all unnecessary decorative clutter. It is accessed via a private walkway that leads into an oversize doorway guarded by a pair of stone carvings. Villa Pondok Batu is a ten minute walk from the Echo beach in Canggu, famous for its scenery, rice field views and laid back lifestyle, yet only a 15 minute drive from the best shopping, restaurants and nightlife the island has to offer.

Villa Pondok Batu Accommodation

The villa (500m2) sits on a half acre plot of land with mature gardens and wide rice-field views at its sunset direction. The main structure (2 storeys) is divided into two parts: bedrooms are placed on the right wing while living & dining area are placed on the left wing. All parts are facing the pool.

Pondok Batu has four marble floored bedrooms; each is fully dressed with double-bed (2 king and 2 queen) with A/C, fan and en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water. Two beds are covered with mosquito nets and one bedroom has a terrazzo bathtub. Uniquely each bedroom has its own personalized character.

To provide a comfortable living, the villa has a bright enclosed or open air concept kitchen (located upstairs) fully equipped with cooking and dining utensils. There are two dining tables: a covered outdoor terrace which seats six (upstairs) and downstairs at the living area with 8 seats.

The spacious living-room area itself is located downstairs facing the pool completed with a satellite TV and CD/DVD facilities, a small library with a broad range of movies and books for all tastes.

The riverside Villa Mattisse is hidden away in the heart of the traditional fishing village of Seseh, just footsteps away from the beach on Bali southwest coast. Village Seseh itself is a traditional fishing village, nestled within the beautiful agricultural belt between Kuta and Tanah Lot. Seseh Beach boasts world-famous surf breaks, and is renowned for its panoramic coastline views and legendary sunsets.

Villa Matisse is only twenty-five minutes driving from the fashionable shops and vibrant nightspots of Seminyak, and about forty-five minutes from the airport.

Villa Matisse Accommodation

With its five luxury bedrooms, the villa can accommodate up to ten guests. In the past, there was four double bedrooms completed with en-suite bathrooms, and a fifth bedroom with a single bed. But now, after the last renovation, all five bedrooms are airconditioned double size completed with private ensuites. There is also a large swimming pool that almost seems to overflow into the river. The style is unashamedly romantic, and the funky colonial architecture is enhanced by a thatched roof and a bold black, white and silver decor.

Accessed by a flight of polished concrete stairs at the back of the villa, the two upstairs bedrooms offer guests an open-air experience, cooled only by natural sea breezes and ceiling fans. The glassless windows on either side allow for cross ventilation. Both spacious bedrooms feature a wooden floor under the soaring roof, and both open onto a wide balcony at the front, furnished with colonial-style chairs and presenting wonderful views of the river, which will lull guests to sleep with its peaceful melody.

Bedroom 1

This bedroom is dominated by a built-in king-size bed canopied with a diaphanous mosquito net. It is furnished with comfortable arm chairs, built in dressing table and shelves, and boasts plenty of storage space and a safe deposit box. The en-suite open-air bathroom features a black and white tiled floor, a circular wall mirror, a washbasin on a black polished concrete vanity unit, a toilet and a rainshower.

Bedroom 2

This bedroom is very similar to Bedroom 1, with a built-in king-size bed canopied with a mosquito net, comfy armchairs, safe deposit box, and an en-suite bathroom with twin wash-basins.

Bedroom 5

In the past it was a small bedroom furnished with a single bed and cooled by a fan. It was ideal for a child or a nanny. Today, after the renovation, this bedroom is equipped with a double bed and cooled by AC system. The eye-catching black and white striped and chequered decor is inspired by the Balinese poleng cloth, which represents the opposing forces of life. A baby cot is also available.

River Bungalow

The air-conditioned River Bungalow is a charming self-contained guesthouse, located in the garden; borders the river and is characterised by a wrap around verandah complete with pillars and holes in the floor to accommodate living trees. The bungalow is entered by antique teakwood double doors and features teak floorboards, a high roof, a king-size bed, and safe deposit box. Wooden shutters add to the rustic charm. The adjoining bathroom is semi open, with a dreamy sunken bathtub for two, a rainshower, washbasin, a toilet hidden behind an alcove, and plenty of storage space.

Pool bungalow

The air-conditioned Pool Bungalow is located right beside the pool with its own personal pool deck. It is also next to the river, so guests can enjoy the constant sound of running water. It is similar in style to the River Bungalow complete with white walls, king-size bed, safe deposit box, and en-suite bathroom with rainshower, stainless steel washbasin, and toilet.

Villa Matisse Ground

The property is entered by a large silver gate, and guests will be greeted by a bubbling water feature and pink flowering bougainvillea. The villa is elevated above the garden, accessed by seven steps, and fronted by an impressive, raised, colonial-style verandah, complete with large round grey marble-effect pillars and silver louvre doors. Ever mindful of preserving the environment, the owners have demonstrated their respect for nature by building the property around a towering fig tree, which grows through the verandah and through the upstairs balcony and roof.

All of the downstairs rooms open onto the breezy verandah, so this is the social hub of the villa, presenting a polished concrete floor with a marbled effect. It is furnished with mats, cushions, and a dining table that can comfortably seat ten for an alfresco dining experience in real Bali style. Within the garden is another hang out, a large lounging area, big enough for ten, complete with low tables and speakers from the sound system; it is sheltered by a thatched roof.

The infinity-edge swimming pool measures 23 x 6 metres and is 1.2 metres in depth at the deep end with a shallow shelf for sitting and for kids. It is fed by three little waterfalls and bordered by a timber deck. It also features a wooden platform that appears to float on the surface of the water, complete with daybeds and a serene Buddha statue, making this a delightful and peaceful spot to relax and chill out. Furthermore, the pool utilises an advanced salt water filtration system that is soft on the earth and gentle on the skin. The garden is suitable for weddings and parties with up to fifty guests. At the back of the villa is a walled courtyard with a pebbled floor, flowering shrubs, and another Buddha statue.

Villa Matisse Living & Dining

The Entertainment Room is located next to the hall on the ground floor; this cosy air-conditioned snug is equipped with satellite TV, DVD and VRC players, stereo music system, WiFi Internet access, ceiling fans, a built-in desk, large mirror and a large comfortable daybed. Colourful artwork adorns the walls and, with its striking orange and red tiled floor, this is the only room in the villa that does not stay completely true to the black, white and silver theme.

Kitchen

The service kitchen is also located on the ground floor; it is well equipped and fitted with glass-fronted silver-doored wall cupboards. It is here that the staff will prepare delicious meals and freshly squeezed fruit juices. The dining table is located immediately next to the kitchen on the verandah.

In Balinese language, Tukad means river. Following its name, Villa Tukad is located in the village of Tumbak Bayuh, facing a river. It is a unique villa in a stunning location by a river in an unspoilt Balinese village. The villa is totally secluded, and the veranda looks out over well-tended gardens bounded by a river in a deep valley skirted by tall, exotic trees. Village Tumbak Bayuh itself is more or less three kilometres from the coast at Canggu/Pererenan.

Style

Unlike many holiday villas, this is an individually designed house with considerable character. It is a home with a carefully designed interior: a cool feeling, Moorish feel. It is a blend between traditional Balinese and Javanese elements including splendid antique carved door way looking out to a carved greenstone water feature.

Local Balinese ceramics and wood carvings are used throughout. The villa is decorated with Balinese artefacts, local fabrics and antique teak furniture. All floors in the main house are hardwood. Mouse patrol in the second bathroom. The terrazzo bathtub in the main bathroom is decorated with inlaid sea shells from the local beach.

Villa Tukad Accommodation

The accommodation is spacious with two bedrooms and bathrooms in the main house and one bedroom with en suite bathroom in a separate guest suite. The guest suite can be used as a twin or large double. The attic is a versatile space which can be configured as an additional double bedroom, a kid bedroom, or a TV den.

A self contained guest house, with the staff house and security lodge on its behind. The guest suite has a spacious twin/double bedroom, marble and granite shower-room with small external courtyard, and a pantry. An antique Javanese sofa overlooking the lotus pond is the final touch. Villa Tukad Veranda and Ground

The veranda provides a wonderful indoor/outdoor space for dining, relaxing on day beds and looking out over the spacious tropical gardens which extend to river frontage and include three bales (pavilions with cushions and sofas) and a number of spectacular water features, traditional stone carvings and shrines and a cool 1.5 metre deep infinity pool (10 X 8 metres) set among palm trees, teak, giant ferns, orchids and bougainvillea.

The large gardens deserve special mention as they contain three pavilions each large enough to contain three or four adults. They are positioned by a large koi fish pond, by the main river, and by a stream that runs through the garden. These are perfect places to relax, read, snooze or have a Balinese massage. There are four recliners around the swimming pool, and a day bed on the veranda.

Humming birds, kingfishers, a dazzling display of butterflies and the occasional monitor lizard can visit the lush and fecund garden.

Basically there are two structures on the compound: Main House and Guest House. On the main house, there are three bedrooms and one bedroom at the Guest House Jineng.

Beneath this dramatic exterior, new buildings frame and stabilise an ancient 12 metre high ironwood and teak jineng, containing the ground floor media room (complete with giant cinema screen and foundation-shaking Yamaha sound system.) Upstairs, an unforgettable Master Bedroom, with soaring 6 metre ceilings and sweeping views of the surrounding rice paddies. The massive antique carved bedhead frames a king size bed and was once a prestigious house facade in Java. One visitor likens spending a night here to sleeping in the sexiest art gallery of the world, with waxed, black ironwood floors, massive teak beams and, wrapping around the room, the unfolding saga of the Ramayana in beautiful, softly lit kamisan paintings.

The bedroom leads onto a separate walk in robe (huge) complete with safe, and an exotic, hand-formed ensuite bathroom that is straight out of the Arabian nights. This in turn opens onto the eye popping Gaudi esque outdoor shower, patterned entirely underfoot and on all sides with a dazzling collection of 1920s terrazzo tiles rescued from mansions being demolished in Java.

The Healthiest Villa in Bali

Villa Shankara Accommodation

Villa Shankara stands on land which little slopes down ward to the beach. From inner gate, highest area, until the Jacuzzi of the pool on the lowest part. The land itself is bordered by a river which safely protect the property from the public beach. Basically the villa is divided into three parts:

Upper Part

Entrance with large parking lot, security post and main gate to the villa. From the appearance of this area, the villa is totally secured. Fence of entrance and second area are dominated by creamy lime stone and path from the gate until the living area is made of strong creamy palimanan stone.

Middle Part

On this second area, two bedrooms stand on left and right side, opposite to each other.

Bedroom 1

It is equipped with king size bed, mosquito net, rectangular terazzo bathtub, open style garden shower facing a falling water on the lava stone wall. This room is more special as it is equipped with a Jacuzzi where two persons can lay at once. This open style Jacuzzi is also equipped with a concrete sofa with colorful cushions.

Bedroom 2

Located opposite to Bedroom 1. Here, there are two bedrooms: a king size and a twin. Both rooms are sharing a spacious bathroom with self standing round bathtub (stands in the middle of the room), a garden shower. This room is nice for a family with two small kids.

Main House

It forms a structure with two storey facing the ocean. Bedrooms 3 and 4 are placed upstairs. Each is fully equipped with private ensuite including bathtub, shower, and other amenities. Each bedroom has its own balcony with wide view to the pool, ocean and river. On down stairs are located the Cinema Room and Living area on left side, while Kitchen and Dining Area are on the right. The dining table and sofa at living area is set to maximize the view to ocean and the pool.

Kitchen is fully equipped with modern cooking utensils and is operated by a good cook with knowledge of western and eastern cuisines. The Cinema room is equipped with large screen TV and two levelled seats with colorful cushions and mattress.

The pool is strategically positioned on very end part of the property with the widest position to see the ocean. It is a rectangular pool sized 15X5m with falling water on its end. On the right side of the edge of the property, little bit lower than the pool, there is a large round black lava stone Jacuzzi. This is another best place to enjoy the beautiful days.

Set atop 1,250m2 land, the villa offers a great experience of Bali traditional holiday. Soka is a traditional Balinese flower which is so familiar to every Balinese. From the first moment you arrive at the villa, you will be witnessing a warm Bali welcome. A traditional entrance gate made of old bricks stands to welcome you to come in. Then, after entering the compound, you will arrive directly at the open style living area overlooks the garden and swimming pool.

Villa Soka Accommodation

This pretty villa offers a nice arrangement of accommodation including three different self standing structures.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is a Balinese traditional style building contains only one double king-size bed with mosquito net. It is completed with an semi open style modern en-suite bathroom including a bathtub, shower with hot and cold water supply. The wooden floored veranda of this room overlooks the swimming pool with its pool bale and opposite the Second Bedroom. The guests only need some steps to plunge into the pool.

Second and Third Bedroom

These bedrooms are located on the second structures, a Balinese traditional style, on opposite position to the structure of master bedroom. It also has a modern en-suite bathroom contains of bathtub, shower, hot & cold water supply. And similar to the master bedroom, the ensuite is also semi open with a small tropical garden.

The second bedroom is another king size, located facing the garden, opposite to master bedroom. Just like the other rooms, this bedroom is also completed with en-suite bathroom with a small inner garden.

Villa Soka Dining and Living Area

The living area is a Balinese traditional open pavilion (gazebo) features some nice wooden chairs. It is located on the upper level of the compound. This means while having your meals, you can view the ground and view over the villa.

The living area also serves as dining area. To accommodate the maximum occupancy of the villa, the dining table is equipped with six chairs. And to support this second function, a kitchen with complete modern cooking utensil is built adjacent.

Villa Soka Ground

With its nice surface of landscape, the ground is divided into three levels: upper level where the living area and kitchen is located, middle level where bedrooms are located, while the pool and next garden are on the lowest. The garden itself is designed as Balinese tropical garden with an array of genuine flowers. And, the pool is positioned on a strategic area under some tropical trees.

Villa Legenda Living & Dining

Welcoming guests with its generous size and openness, the living room offers a sweeping vista of the pool, gardens and adjacent rice fields. Cooled by ceiling fans and natural ventilation, and characterised by an Indian slate floor and a soaring vaulted ceiling, the room is exquisitely furnished with cream leather sofas, chairs and bar stools. The centrepiece is an impressive iron chandelier designed by the owners. There is a polished granite party bar with fridge and sink, and a round table with chairs for intimate dining.

A stairway leads down to the Dining Room, located on ground level next to the pool terrace. The room is furnished with a three meter long table which seats ten, a sideboard and a pair of 24-light standing candelabra. The ceiling features cove lighting and specialty lighting for the stunning art works which adorn the walls. Folding glass doors offer guests cool alfresco dining and the ambience is enhanced by water sounds emanating from adjacent ornamental ponds, water spouts and bubbling urns. There is a Powder Room at the foot of the stairs.

Service Kitchen and Media Room

A timber bridge traverses a pond between the Dining Room and the immaculate Service Kitchen. It is a fully equipped with everything that the chef needs to prepare delicious meals in accordance with the requests of each guest. A Wet Kitchen and a Laundry are both tucked away at the back, along with the staff entrance.

The air-conditioned Media Room is equipped with a 32-inch LCD flat screen TV, VCD player and surround sound system. It is entered via folding doors leading from the Dining Room. This comfortable room is furnished with two deeply-cushioned sofas, traditional batik cushions, a games table with Plexiglas chairs, and an innovative glass topped coffee table created by hand from coffee-wood branches. Sliding windows on one side overlook an ornamental pond and a window on the other side looks out at the pool. Books and artifacts fill the bookcases.

Master Suite

The Master Suite is accessed by an elevated covered walkway on the Living Room level, bridging a water garden below. A sliding door opens to reveal the air-conditioned Office/Sitting Room, complete with merbau wood floor, antique desk, chairs and original artwork on the walls.

The Master Bedroom is entered via another sliding door, where a splendid king-size, canopied bed, dressed in white linens and mosquito netting sits in the center of the room like a throne. It features intricate carving and is a copy of an old Madurese Royal bed. This air-conditioned room is equipped with a TV and VCD player. The walls are decorated in a cool shade of blue. There is a vaulted wood ceiling and folding glass doors that open onto a wide wrap around slate-floored balcony. This allows guests to choose open air sleeping instead of air-conditioning if they wish.The views from this room and balcony are breathtaking. The balcony is furnished with a cushioned day bed, rattan armchairs and a dining table for a private breakfast or lunch. This is also a wonderful spot for sunset cocktails.

The ensuite air-conditioned bathroom is luxurious. It boasts a cream-colored marble floor, an abundance of wall mirrors, an oval-shaped terrazzo bathtub for two and twin marble washbasins. A toilet cubicle and a separate shower are each entered via frosted glass doors. The powerful overhead rainshower is complemented by a handheld shower. There is a large closet and dressing area with built-in wardrobes, drawers and plenty of storage space. A safe deposit box and mini-bar fridge are located in the dressing area.

Guests Suite

The air-conditioned Guest Suite is located on the Ground level. The Sitting Room/Children Bedroom is entered through a sliding door leading off a covered walkway beside a beautiful water garden. There is an L-shaped sofa that can be converted into twin beds, making this suite ideal for a family.

The bedroom is entered through a sliding wooden door which separates it from the sitting room, or through doors opening onto the Terrace and Garden. This generous bedroom is furnished with antiques and artwork, an Oriental rug and a king-size, four-poster steel bed. The bed has elaborate white mosquito netting which allows guests to sleep with the folding glass doors open to the rice field views, or to choose the option of air-conditioning.

The Guest Suite is equipped with a safe deposit box and a mini-bar fridge. A beautiful old cabinet holds a TV and VCD player. The dressing area and ensuite bathroom follow the same layout and have the same amenities as the Master Suite. The wide wrap around white Palimanan stone terrace is furnished with an antique carved Timorese table and chairs for private dining, or just relaxing and viewing the rice fields.

Guest House

The free standing Guest House is located on the far side of the living and dining pavilion on ground level. It can be reached from the Dining Room or by an outdoor staircase which leads from the Living Room. It is air-conditioned and features a soaring ceiling and a merbau wood floor. The furnishings include a queen size, four-poster bed fashioned from carved teak, with exquisite white linens and mosquito netting; an antique cabinet housing a TV and VCD player with surround sound; a writing table and chairs.

The air-conditioned bathroom has a marble floor and a dressing area with fitted wardrobes, huge mirrors, and louvered doors which hide a safe deposit box and mini bar fridge. Double marble topped vanity units support large glass washbowls with teak cupboards and shelves underneath. The toilet cubicle and separate shower are each located behind frosted glass doors. The powerful rainshower is complemented by a handheld shower. Glass doors lead to an open air bathroom romantically lit by unique wall lamps. An oversize bathtub is sheltered under the roof eaves, and there is an outdoor rainshower for moonlit bathing. A glass wall of sliding doors opens onto a white Palimanan stone terrace. There is a marble topped iron table and chairs for private dining with garden and pool views. The terrace is sheltered by a pergola supporting a cascade of white thumbergia flowers.

Villa Legenda Ground

The 16 x 3 metre, blue slate tiled swimming pool has a waterfall at one end, two infinity edges, and is anchored by a Pendopo, used as a Relaxation Pavilion. This ancient structure is the core of a 150-year old wooden Joglo house from Java. It showcases ornate hand-carvings and robust columns, and was constructed using traditional tongue and groove techniques without the use of any nails or bolts. Furnished with a rustic table, a deeply cushioned rattan sofa and chairs, this raised pavilion, with its antique terracotta tiled floor is another delightful area for dining, entertaining and relaxing. There is a granite topped bar for serving at the back of the structure. The white Palimanan stone pool terrace is shaded by sweet-scented white frangipani trees; there are 4 sunbeds and two umbrellas.

The expansive gardens are dotted with palm trees and white-flowering shrubs and trees. Open to the rice fields on one side with a view unbroken by walls or fences, the property expands its borders.

Water is a predominant element in the spiritual landscape of Bali. This is reflected throughout the property, but especially in the enchanting water garden between the bedroom pavilion and the Living/Dining pavilion. The pond features white lotus and bulrushes, and is planted with white orchids and a frangipani tree on an island. Two serene Buddha statues sit in stone caves against a backdrop of flowing water to complete this beautiful water feature.
